Are Gen Z and Travel Healthcare a Perfect Match?

Much has been said about Generation Z and how they differ from their Millennial, Gen X, and Boomer counterparts, but a recent survey by Georgetown University and Bank of America reveals that Gen Z could be uniquely suited for a career in travel nursing and allied health. The “Young adults and workplace wellness” report was conducted last winter and received input from 1,032 full-time workers between the ages of 24 and 35. The age range did include some of the youngest to fall under the Millennial age group.

Flexibility and Time Off

According to the survey, Gen Z wants flexibility and work-life balance, and those priorities dictate whether they will stay with a job or seek employment elsewhere. Almost 50 percent said they would consider new employment for a more flexible work schedule. Those planning to switch jobs cited paid time off (65 percent) and a flexible work schedule (58 percent) among their top influencers. But a whopping 73 percent preferred to carry their benefits from job to job. MedPro Healthcare Staffing offers travel nurses and allied health professionals health, life, vision, and dental insurance, short-term and long-term disability, 401(k), continuing education, and referral bonuses.

The pandemic may have ended, but it reshaped the workforce in ways that are becoming permanent and coincide with the preferences of Gen Z making travel healthcare work an attractive career for many.

“It’s our responsibility as leaders in business to understand the changing nature of work so that we can build a future that enables current and future generations to thrive,” said Paul Almeida, dean and William R. Berkley Chair at Georgetown McDonough.
