Becker’s 12th Annual CEO + CFO Roundtable recently brought together healthcare leaders in Chicago to discuss pressing industry issues and the future of healthcare. MedPro Senior Vice President of Workforce Solutions Dan Barren answered staffing questions and shared how MedPro delivers custom staffing solutions while achieving economies of scale. This was Barren’s second year attending Becker’s for MedPro, and while each conference is unique, this year’s stood out for the level of CEO engagement. Usually, Barren speaks to directors or VPs, but a shifting focus on revenue and cost has motivated many CEOs, COOs, and CMOs to take a hands-on approach to staffing. “The direct engagement of CEOs and COOs streamlines the decision-making process,” said Barren. “This allows us to respond quickly and efficiently, benefiting our clients.”
Emerging Themes

Four key themes emerged from this year’s conference: behavioral health, therapy, radiology, and all things per diem. Barren said “Per diem workers , who aren’t tied to 13-week contracts, can be used on an as-needed basis, offering hospitals a more adaptable solution to staffing needs.” However, this model also introduces challenges, particularly when it comes to ensuring that the available staff are qualified, experienced, and ready to step in when needed. Many nurses who work per diem already have a full-time position.
The increasing focus on behavioral health and therapy aligns well with MedPro’s strengths. Barren notes, “We’re actively engaged with a behavioral health clinic in Florida and one on the East Coast and are focused on independent facilities that provide this type of care.” This shift towards independent behavioral health services reflects a broader industry trend and highlights the growing need for qualified staff in specialized areas.
Radiology and therapy are also seeing significant demand, spanning both post-acute and acute care settings. Radiology, in particular, is recognized as a revenue-generating field, and with CEOs increasingly focused on revenue, they are more attuned to the financial impact of staffing decisions.
Building Relationships and Trust
One of MedPro’s standout successes over the past year is its growing list of relationships. MedPro delivered candidates to three different prospects before formal agreements were even signed—an impressive feat that speaks to the trust and rapport MedPro has built with its clients. “Director Natashae Runnels and her sales group are cultivating these relationships, which are key to the company’s ongoing success.” The company has clients in the pipeline who are not only satisfied with the services provided but are eager to continue working with MedPro.
Staying Ahead of the Game
MedPro remains committed to staying ahead of the curve as the healthcare industry continues to evolve. With C-suite executives taking a more active role in staffing decisions and increasing demand for specialized services like behavioral health and per diem staffing, MedPro is well-positioned to meet these challenges.
By prioritizing strong relationships, flexibility, and a client-focused approach, MedPro delivers high-quality staffing solutions that drive positive outcomes. The company’s proactive approach to identifying and addressing client needs, even before formal agreements are in place, sets them apart in the industry.
MedPro’s ability to adapt and innovate will ensure its continued success as the healthcare landscape shifts.
