Andrea Zveibil: The Heart of Success

“I don’t have a degree, but I have grit, sales logic, and a good heart, and I’ve made a whole career off that.”

Senior Vice President of Recruiting Andrea Zveibil leads her team with two core principles: She won’t work harder for your career than you will, and she can’t teach you what your mama didn’t—ethics, trust, and hard work.

Her methods are comprehensive and sustainable, focusing on long-term growth rather than quick fixes. While challenging, this philosophy has powered Zveibil’s remarkable career in healthcare staffing as a recruiter, regional VP, national director, COO, president, and CEO. Now, she is confident her approach will drive Domestic’s success as we navigate a new staffing landscape.

Where Attention Goes, Energy Flows

The youngest of three sisters, Zveibil is the daughter of an American mother and a Brazilian father. Her family relocated from Brazil to the U.S. when she was a child. She credits her father’s unwavering work ethic in the auto industry and her mother’s emotional intelligence as a practicing Reiki master and hypnotherapist as the foundation for her leadership style.

She began her career in advertising and marketing, working with companies like the New Times and a liquor distributor. In her 20s, she attended red-carpet events and managed clients like Sara Lee. However, after September 11, as those clients scaled back, she reevaluated her career.

After months of being pursued by a recruiter, Zveibil took the leap into healthcare staffing. “None of my family was in healthcare. They all had business backgrounds, but I was drawn to the energy of the office and the concept of staffing hospitals,” said Zveibil. Though she knew little about the industry, she rapidly built a roster of 131 working travelers, becoming a top producer within six months and earning seven promotions in seven years. “It’s all about where we focus our time and energy.

Zveibil developed mental and practical models to guide her, constantly tracking and refining her approach. She found that when a recruiter genuinely supported their clients in the field, those clients performed better and remained loyal. “Positivity is contagious. You can watch the same person thrive under one leader and struggle under another.”

Her success is undeniable. When a former colleague sought her help to revitalize a struggling healthcare staffing provider, she stepped up. Leading a young, enthusiastic team, she transformed the company from a low-volume, unprofitable business into a thriving Top 25 Nursing and Allied staffing firm, recognized on SIA’s fastest-growing and largest healthcare staffing lists. The company was eventually sold and rebranded.

 The New Staffing Norm

Zveibil wasn’t actively job hunting when a headhunter approached her about the Sr. VP of Recruiting position. At 50, with 8–10 years of working still ahead of her, she felt a strong pull to return to an in-office setting, running a traditional team to help reform —an industry now shaped by change and unpredictability.

Many new recruiters, unfamiliar with pre-COVID norms, lacked the comprehensive knowledge to succeed in the new environment. Zveibil’s mission became clear: bridge the gap by teaching recruiters how to match the right person to the right job, restoring integrity and quality to the field.

Her first act was to foster a culture where every team member felt seen and heard, reinstating heart over mind and proactive efforts over reactive ones. She had her team focus on both hard and soft skills, with an emphasis on patient outcomes. “We know we’re succeeding when readmissions decrease in the hospitals we serve and when we maintain manageable nurse-to-patient ratios,” said Zveibil.

When Zveibil interviewed with CEO Liz Tonkin and CFO Frank Forbes, she recognized the healthcare staffing industry was navigating uncharted waters. Therefore, experience alone no longer carried the same weight—what was needed now was collaboration and a collective effort to adapt to the new normal.

We’re still defining how MedPro fits into this evolving landscape. “As we move forward, we need hospitals to tell us what’s working, what’s not, and how we can best support them.”

The Domestic Nursing Team has grown 36% from February to today in a retracting market. The team’s commitment to shared goals fuels this growth. By setting clear expectations and ensuring everyone is putting in the same effort, the team is more efficient and achieves greater results.

Ebb and Flow

Change is inevitable. Success hinges on how well we adapt to life’s ebb and flow. External events have dramatically shaped the industry. With a new administration entering the White House in January, Zveibil expects more change. “We saw the impact of Obamacare in 2012, the ERM/medical records mandate in 2016, and the pandemic in 2020. The key to navigating these shifts is understanding the business logic and flow—then you’re able to pivot.”

MedPro will prioritize volume over profitability, allowing demand to drive rates up naturally. This approach ensures the best support for client facilities and healthcare professionals. “The focus is on finding the right people and being prepared for demand—it’s about selecting the right partners to navigate the ups and downs together.”

This commitment to consistent, intentional action has fueled Zveibil’s successful career and personal life.  When she’s not building the ranks of MedPro’s HIF, she enjoys spending quality time with her daughter, Jordyn, and their Bernedoodle, Prada. “I love being with the people who matter most—friends and family.” Zveibil is also passionate about staying active and enjoying the outdoors, whether trying a new fitness class, rock climbing, wakeboarding, water skiing, tubing, practicing hot yoga, or simply relaxing by a fire. “Happiness comes and goes,” she said. “But peace is enduring.”
