With stunning beaches, vibrant nightlife, diverse cuisine, and unique wildlife—South Florida is a cornucopia of excitement and adventure! It’s no wonder millions of tourists flock here every year. But what if you could visit the region’s attractions and get paid? That’s precisely what MedPro Explorers like David Lima are doing, turning this tropical hotspot into their office and playground!
Welcome to Miami
“Miami is always a great time,” said David. “The culture, the beach—it’s so refreshing.” As a first-time MedPro Explorer, David is wrapping up a three-month assignment in South Florida, and one of his biggest highlights? The food! “The cuisine in South Florida has been exquisite,” he shared. He and a friend gave a big thumbs-up to brunch at Maple and Cream in Plantation. The mouthwatering menu, featuring everything from dulce Nutella French toast and chicken and waffles to huevos rotos bravos and shrimp ‘n grits, guarantees that Explorers will find something to satisfy their cravings. But South Florida has much more to offer than just great food.
Caring for Others
From a young age, David felt a deep calling to care for others, which ultimately led him to pursue a career in healthcare. As the only member of his family in the medical field—aside from a cousin who is a nurse practitioner—David chose his own path. Now, as an Imaging Interventional Radiology Technologist, he plays a critical role in assisting physicians with minimally invasive procedures, skillfully guiding instruments through a patient’s blood vessels and organs with precision and care.
Still, for David, travel healthcare is about more than just providing care. It’s an opportunity to explore new places, meet new people, and give back wherever he can. A natural social butterfly, he thrives on experiencing different cultures and learning from diverse environments. With one MedPro assignment under his belt, David is eager to discover new cities on his journey. His wish list includes St. Augustine, Pensacola, Portland (Oregon), Utah, and Maine.
David believes the key to thriving as a Travel MedTech is humility and adaptability. Embracing change and remaining flexible are essential in this ever-evolving field. His advice to aspiring travel healthcare professionals? “Feeling nervous at first is normal, but once you connect with new people and settle into your environment, it starts to feel like home.”
